Not sure if many of you are interested but GTA V now has a release date. 17-09-13. That of course is for the consoles, the PC version will as usual be 6 months late. Why does R* do that?

Rockstar along with Ubisoft decided to be arseholes towards the PC master race.
Take-Two doesn't even have a reputation of being dicks when it comes to PC ports, it's just Rockstar fucking around yet again. I am still hoping GTA V will be playable on PC, unlike the last one in the series.

Also, I guess the higher price of console games might factor into this?

It might, but i'm not entirely sure on that, never bought a console game y'see. Some publishers cite piracy as a reason but that hasn't been a dominant factor since Steam came along.

Hopefully. Max Payne 3 was developed simultaneously for all platforms so there was no need to port it. I was hoping they'd do the same with GTA V which they have, with the consoles at least.
@Hellbilly
Could well be. FIFA 13 was £45 to £50 for consoles when it came out in September and it stayed like that until Christmas. It's actually quite convenient for Rockstar considering that GTA V is coming out in September as well.

Yeah, Rockstar sure do know how to operate the biz to their benefit.
New PC games usually cost, at the most, 40e here (absolute tops at 50e), whilst new console games can easily go up to 70e (or something like 39,90e for PC to 69,90e for console), and the price of PC games usually drops quite a bit faster to the 20e range; eventually console games reach that too. For example, Risen 2 for the XBox 360 is already available for 20e in Finland.
Also, I read somewhere that at least Microsoft is pretty strict about restrictions and whatnots they impose on their games, and I would'nt be surprised if Sony-Microsoft-Rockstar have some sort of nice little menage a trois agreement to release new titles first as console exclusives, and only later, possibly, consider a PC release. Red Dead Redemption was never released on the PC, was it?
There's something rotten in the gaming business, as Bud Shake Spear put it so eloquently, eh?

i've never really liked gta but i'd play red dead... which is not released for pc ;d

You shouldn't forget the fact that PC games are much much easier to get pirated, I'm sure this hurts a lot of gaming developers, the delay of several months before a release on PC can be solely due to that, I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Piracy hasn't been an issue since steam came along.

Piracy never was an issue.

Exactly, piracy is just a convenient scapegoat shitty publishers use to justify every bad decision they make.

Wouldn't surprise me either considering that GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas all came out on PS2 first. Don't remind me of Red Dead Redemption, that game would've had so much potential on the PC platform; imagine the mods we would've had for that game, flying horses!
